HISTORY
Conservation Outdoors Inc. is an IRS approved 501 (A)(2) organization that was founded in 1991 as Tarpon Unlimited Inc. with the mission of raising the necessary funds to complete life cycle studies of the fish species, Megalops Atlanticus, with particular attention to sustainable habitat and indigenous employment through eco-tourism. Initial research projects were in Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
Once that target had been met the Board of Directors decided to expand the mission to include all species associated with salt water estuarial environments,
as well as at-risk native fish populations in selected fresh-water venues, such as Nile Perch in Lake Nasser.
In order to better represent this goal the organization name was changed to Conservation Outdoors Inc. in 1998. Today Conservation Outdoors Inc. has completed wildlife protection and preservation projects in places as diverse as Iceland and Egypt, Brazil and Israel.
Current and proposed projects in Egypt, Guyana, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic keep our attention. We organize field expeditions with volunteers graciously donating their time and efforts to supporting wildlife and habitat restoration/protection.
